HISTORY
The Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology Applied Undergraduate Study Program – Diponegoro University (S.Tr. TRKI) is a transformation of the Chemical Technology Diploma Study Program organized by the Department of Industrial Technology, Vocational School, Diponegoro University. The TRKI SV UNDIP Study Program was established to prepare qualified human resources (HR), both cognitively and non-technical skills (soft skills) to meet the needs of the business world and the industrial world (DUDI) in the field of chemical engineering through the implementation of vocational learning, research applied, creating innovative and tested works, and applying them in solving problems in the business and industrial world (DUDI) through an inter/multi-disciplinary approach.
The long history of the establishment of the Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology Study Program stems from the establishment of the State Academic Technology (ATN) in 1962. Then the establishment of Technical Expert Education (PAT) at Diponegoro University in 1967. The establishment of PAT at Diponegoro University is a follow-up to the merger of the State Technology Academy. (ATN). It was then that the chemical engineering program was first established and in 1983 it became the Faculty of Non-Degree Technology (FNGT). In accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0312/0/1991 dated June 6, 1991 regarding the Closure and Integration of Non-Degree Faculties within Universities and Institutes, then in the academic year 1992/1993 the Non-Degree Faculty of Engineering was officially changed to a Diploma III Engineering Program under the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University. This policy forced the faculty to be removed to become a Diploma Program under the Faculty of Engineering.
In subsequent developments starting in 2016, all Diploma Programs at the University of Diponegoro were integrated into a Vocational School based on Government Regulation Number 52 of 2015. To answer this government regulation, the Chancellor of Diponegoro University issued a decree Number: 1250/UN7.P/HK/ 2016 concerning the establishment of the Diponegoro University Vocational School. The establishment of the Vocational School of Diponegoro University stems from conditions at Diponegoro University related to the governance of the Diploma program. Until 2016, the Diploma Program at Diponegoro University was still managed by the respective faculties. With a clear boundary between education at the vocational level and the academic level, the Diploma program at Diponegoro University is collected in one management of the Diponegoro University Vocational School (SV UNDIP).
In its journey for the sake of the birth of competent human resources in accordance with the needs of the times, the government encourages the process of opening and increasing the level of vocational education, and is expected to be in accordance with the needs of industry/users. On April 5, 2017, the Chancellor of Diponegoro University officially issued letter number 179/UN7.P/HK/2017 regarding the establishment of D4 Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology, replacing decree number 363/Kemenristekdikti/Kep.1998. This indirectly became a marker for the closing of the Chemical Engineering DIII Study Program and changed to the Applied Bachelor Program in Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology.
