Semarang, May 26 – Diponegoro University (UNDIP) has once again achieved a proud accomplishment on the international stage thru one of its students, Farhan Gimnastiar Maslihan, from the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology (TRKI), Vocational School. Farhan successfully passed the rigorous selection process and earned the golden opportunity to participate in the Taiwan International Model Internship Program (IIPP) initiated by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC).
This prestigious internship program will take place at Chang Gung University in Taiwan, bringing together talented students from various countries with a leading science and technology research ecosystem. There, Farhan will focus on membrane technology research, a field that plays a key role in sustainable energy solutions and environmental protection.
Farhan is no stranger to the ranks of outstanding students. He is widely known as a young talent active in various fields—from academics, social work, research, to youth activities. Throughout 2024, Farhan has secured 9 Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and patents in the fields of energy innovation and design, including locally-inspired batik.
His scientific contributions are also recognized in international forums. Farhan once presented at the INSPINSA conference with his work titled “Development of Anti-Bacteria Liquid Detergent Using Muntinga calabura Leaf Extract and Lipozyme Enzyme for Enhanced Foam Stability”—an environmentally friendly detergent innovation that also led to his selection for the Independent Internship Program (MSIB Batch 6) from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
As a young researcher, Farhan is actively writing in international scientific journals and is often invited as a national speaker. He also received research funding from various prestigious programs such as PKM Riset Eksakta (PKM-RE), Desa Energi Berdikari (Pertamina Foundation), P2MD, and Wirausaha Muda Vokasi.
Not only is Farhan excellent in academics, but he is also talented in arts and culture. He won the Diponegoro Art Competition Poetry Reading Contest and was awarded 1st Runner-Up at the Central Java Student Arts Week.
In student organizations, Farhan served as the Head of Research and Science at the BEM SV UNDIP and was active in the TRKI Student Association. He also gained internship experience at large industries such as PT Kaltim Methanol Industri, PT Pertamina RU VI, and PT Semen Gresik Rembang.
His consistency in his work has made Farhan a national media spotlight and a source of inspiration for many students in Indonesia. Thru his dedication and innovation, he proved that vocational students can also compete on a global level and make a real contribution to global society.
In his interview, Farhan emphasized that his main motivations are the spirit of learning and social contribution. “I want to prove that vocational students can also achieve globally and make a positive impact on society,” he said enthusiastically.
