Maya Qisthina Gaissani, a 2023 student from the Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology (TRKI) Study Program at Diponegoro University, serves as a role model for other students thru her innovative spirit and high dedication. From the very beginning of her studies, Maya has demonstrated exceptional potential in the fields of research, technology development, as well as leadership and social activities.
In 2024, Maya successfully advanced as a Grand Finalist in the international Indonesia Chemical Reaction Car Development Challenge (ICHEDECE) – a prestigious competition that tests participants’ deep understanding of chemical principles, technical abilities, and creativity in solving real-world problems in the industrial sector. This achievement reflects Maya’s ability to create innovative solutions based on chemical reactions. Currently, he is also researching alternative energy with a focus on “Optimizing the State of Health of Aluminum-Air Batteries Based on Environmentally Friendly Integrated PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) Control System Technology.”
As a member of the Vocational Downstreaming Research Team, Maya participated in the strategic project funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the period 2023–2025, titled “Development of Steam Nano Dispersion–Vibro Nano Filtration Process for Premium Instant Coffee Production.” The aim of this project is to design food technology based on process efficiency and product quality improvement. Additionally, Maya is also part of the miniplant biodiesel research team at the Vocational School of UNDIP, where she contributes to the development of environmentally friendly renewable energy sources.
Outside of academic activities, Maya is involved in various organizations. He served as research staff in the Research and Science division of HMTRKI in 2024, and was also a member of ParaNovo Club Batch 3 and the Executive Board of the Undip Debating Forum (UDF), broadening his academic horizons and soft skills. As the vice-chair of “KAYOVOKS,” the Chem-E-Car team from UNDIP Vocational School, Maya also led the development of environmentally friendly chemical reaction-based vehicles. To strengthen her leadership role, Maya has completed the LKMM Pra-Dasar (PD) and Dasar (D) training, which has equipped her with solid managerial skills.
In the field of innovation and intellectual property, Maya has obtained three Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) for her innovations, namely: a citric acid-based floor cleaning product (EC002024245225), liquid soap with CAPB as a substitute for SLES (EC002024245191), and an instant coffee nanoemulsion product (EC002024229843). She also holds a patent for a method of making aromatic instant coffee nanoemulsions (S00202414012), demonstrating her potential and productivity as a young researcher.
With a string of achievements in academics, research, organizations, and technological innovation, Maya Qisthina Gaissani has become an inspiring and proud figure for Diponegoro University. His dedication to creating practical and sustainable solutions offers great hope for the advancement of science and technology in Indonesia. Maya is a true representation of the young generation that wants to make a positive impact on society and the environment.
