Maya Qisthina Gaissani, a 2023 student from the Chemical Engineering Technology Program (TRKI) at Diponegoro University, has become an inspiring figure by demonstrating a strong passion for innovation and dedication. From the beginning of her academic journey, Maya has showcased her potential in research, technology development, leadership, and social involvement.
In 2024, Maya succeeded in becoming a Grand Finalist in the prestigious Indonesia Chemical Reaction Car Development Challenge (ICHEDECE), an international competition that tests participants’ deep understanding of chemical principles, technical skills, and creativity in solving real-world industrial problems. This achievement reflects Maya’s ability to design innovative solutions based on chemical reactions. She is currently conducting research in alternative energy, focusing on “Optimization of the State of Health of Aluminium-Air Batteries Based on Environmentally Friendly Technology Integrated with PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) Control Systems.”
As part of the Vocational Research Downstreaming Team, Maya is involved in a strategic project funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the 2023–2025 period, titled “Development of Nano Dispersed Steam-Vibro Nano Filtration Process for Premium Instant Coffee Production.” The goal of this project is to design food technology based on process efficiency and product quality improvement. In addition, Maya is also part of the biodiesel miniplant team at the Vocational School of Diponegoro University, contributing to the development of renewable energy sources.
Beyond academics, Maya is actively involved in several organizations. She serves as a research staff member in the Research and Science Division of HMTRKI in 2024 and is a member of the ParaNovo Club Batch 3 and the Executive Board of the Undip Debating Forum (UDF), expanding her academic horizons and soft skills. As Vice Chairman of “KAYOVOKS”, the Chem-E-Car team from the Vocational School of Diponegoro University, Maya leads the development of environmentally friendly chemical reaction-based vehicles. To strengthen her leadership skills, Maya has completed the LKMM Pra-Dasar (PD) and Dasar (D) training, equipping her with solid managerial capabilities.
In terms of innovation and intellectual property, Maya has registered three Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for her innovations, which include: Citric acid-based floor cleaner (EC002024245225), Liquid soap with CAPB as a substitute for SLES (EC002024245191), Instant coffee nano-emulsion (EC002024229843).
She also holds a patent for the method of creating aromatic instant coffee nano-emulsions (S00202414012), showcasing her potential as a young researcher who is competent and productive.
With her achievements in academics, research, organizations, and technological innovations, Maya Qisthina Gaissani has become an inspiring figure that brings pride to Diponegoro University. Her dedication to creating practical and sustainable solutions gives great hope for the future of science and technology in Indonesia. Maya is a true representation of the young generation striving to make a positive impact on society and the environment.
