Five students from the Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology Study Program, Vocational School, Diponegoro University, have once again brought pride to their institution on the national stage. Adhilla Rifky Ramadhan, Akbar Asyadani, Dzikri Mahesa Al Ghifari, I Gusti Ngurah Satya Mukti, and Kasyfillah Sandy Azizi emerged victorious in the National Scientific Writing Competition held during the Sikarya Scientific Competition 2024 hosted by Sriwijaya University. The team, guided by their mentor Yusuf Ma’Rifat Fajar Azis, S.T., M.T., presented their groundbreaking paper titled “Conversion of Polypropylene Plastic Waste Integrated with IoT into Fuel Oil Using Pyrolysis Method: An Intelligent Solution for Plastic Waste Management in Palembang City.” This innovative project combines the pyrolysis method with Internet of Things (IoT) technology to transform plastic waste into fuel oil, offering a smart and sustainable solution to the growing problem of plastic waste.
The competition, which took place at Sriwijaya University, was highly competitive, with dozens of teams from renowned universities across Indonesia participating. Through rigorous selection, presentations, and panel discussions, Diponegoro University’s team stood out with their innovation that addresses critical environmental and technological challenges. Adhilla Rifky Ramadhan, the team leader, expressed his gratitude and pride in their achievement. “This success is the result of our hard work, the support from the university, and the invaluable guidance of our mentor. We aim to contribute to solving the global plastic waste problem, focusing on Palembang as a major city in Indonesia for the initial implementation of this solution,” he said.
In addition to securing the championship, the team’s innovation is expected to inspire other students to create environmentally friendly and sustainable technologies. This achievement further solidifies Diponegoro University’s reputation as a leading institution in nurturing innovative and impactful young talents.
