Sepakung, August 17, 2024 – The Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology Student Association (HMTRKI) successfully held the opening of the Ormawa Membangun Negeri (POMN) Program carried out by the Directorate General of Vocational Education in Sepakung Village on Saturday, August 17, 2024. The event themed “Strategy to Realize Economic Food Security and Zero Waste Through Agricultural Waste Biobriquette Production” was enthusiastically welcomed by local residents and village youth. The opening of POMN was attended by various important figures, including Dr. Ir. Fahmi Arifan, S.T., M.Eng., IPM. ASEAN Eng., HMTRKI’s supervising lecturer, as well as Mr. Ahmad Nuri as the Head of Sepakung Village and Mr. Hasan, Head of Sepakung Wetan Hamlet.
The Sepakung Wetan community was also present to provide support and celebrate this initiative. In his remarks, Dr. Ir. Fahmi Arifan, S.T., M.Eng., IPM. ASEAN Eng. expressed his pride in the implementation of this program, which is expected to have a positive impact on the village and its surroundings. “This program not only aims to overcome the problem of agricultural waste, but also to encourage food security and create a sustainable economy at the local level,” he said. Mr. Ahmad Nuri, Head of Sepakung Village, also gave high appreciation for this activity. “We really welcome this initiative. With the POMN program, we hope that Sepakung Village can be more advanced and independent, especially in managing agricultural waste which has been a challenge for us.” Malika Pintanada Kaladinanty, Chair of POMN, Association of Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology, also expressed his pride in the collaboration and innovation produced. “We believe that this program not only brings benefits to the Sepakung community, but also opens the door for the younger generation to contribute to creating a better and more sustainable future,” he said. Malika hopes that the collaboration between students and the community can produce sustainable innovation and create solutions to local challenges. The theme of the event, “Sekaung Progressive Village,” reflects the determination to make the village a center of innovation in waste management and food security. This program will focus on the production of biobriquettes from agricultural waste that can reduce waste and increase agricultural productivity and the economy of rural communities.
This activity received an enthusiastic response from residents and village youth who were involved in the implementation of the program. Their enthusiasm and support are the key to the success of the implementation of POMN and are expected to be an example for other villages throughout the country. With this POMN, it is hoped that Sepakung Village can become a model in implementing a zero waste strategy and developing a sustainable agricultural-based economy, as well as providing inspiration for other villages in facing similar challenges.
