Gadingan Village, Mojolaban Subdistrict, Sukoharjo Regency, August 6, 2024 – UNDIP Field Study and Community Service held a multidisciplinary work program in Gadingan Village, Mojolaban Subdistrict, Sukoharjo Regency, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. This program was implemented in response to the high stunting rate in the village, which reached 15%. The program aims to increase the community’s understanding of stunting and how to prevent it.
The socialization activity began at 09.00 WIB at Gadingan Meeting Hall. The event began with the delivery of material on stunting, which included the definition of stunting, the dangers caused, and the steps to prevent it. One of the recommended ways to prevent stunting in children is by eating nutritious foods such as catfish nuggets which are rich in protein and moringa pudding which contains many vitamins and minerals.
After the socialization of the material, the event continued with a demonstration of making catfish nuggets and moringa pudding. The process of making catfish nuggets starts with boiling and pulverizing the catfish, then mixing it with herbs and spices before wrapping it in panir flour and frying it. Meanwhile, moringa pudding is made by washing moringa leaves, mixing them with pudding-making ingredients, then cooking and molding them in pudding cups. Both meals were then distributed to stunted toddlers in the village. The event was closed with an interactive question and answer session, where the community could ask the KKN students directly about stunting and how to prevent it. This activity also ended with a documentation session as a form of recording the activities that had been carried out.
Overall, this activity was considered a success because the material presented was well received by the community. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of the people who attended, as well as the good acceptance of the taste of catfish nuggets and moringa pudding that were distributed. Toddlers affected by stunting also seemed to like the nutritious food provided.
We hope that this program can be the first step towards creating a community that cares about stunting prevention and reducing stunting rates in the local area. This activity will continue with ongoing monitoring of toddlers affected by stunting. KKN students will work closely with the Gadingan Village Midwife to ensure the provision of additional nutritious food on a regular basis. This activity is an important first step in reducing the stunting rate in Gadingan Village. With the support of the community and local health workers, it is hoped that the stunting rate in this village can decrease significantly in the future.
