Eco-Friendly Innovation: UNDIP Field Study and Community Service Utilizes Household Organic Waste Into Eco enzyme as A Liquid With A Million Benefits

Gadingan Village, Mojolaban District, Sukoharjo Regency, July 27, 2024 – On Saturday, July 27, 2024, Ade Kurnianto (UNDIP Field Study and Community Service), carried out a community empowerment work program, namely converting household organic waste into Ecoenzyme liquid which has various benefits. This program aims to overcome household waste problems in an effort to create a clean and waste-free environment.

Ecoenzyme is a fermentation product rich in enzymes and beneficial microorganisms, which can be used as a natural fertilizer, cleaner, and organic pesticide. Ecoenzyme is made by mixing organic waste from vegetables or fruits with molasses and water.

This program is led by Ade Kurnianto, Industrial Chemical Engineering Student, Diponegoro University, which aims to increase public awareness about waste management and the extraordinary benefits of ecoenzyme. In the training held on July 27, 2024 at 19.30 – 20.30 WIB, which was attended by the community, especially PKK women from Kismosari, Gadingan village, at the meeting hall of Kismosari, Gadingan village, participants were taught the steps of making ecoenzyme from vegetable waste, fruits, and molasses.

“By utilizing household organic waste, we not only reduce the amount of waste, but also create products that are useful for everyday life. In addition, this Ecoenzyme can also be used to fertilize plants, clean the house.” said Ade, as a UNDIP Field Study and Community student.

Process of making ecoenzyme involves mixing organic waste with molasses and water, which is then fermented for several weeks. The result is a brown-colored liquid that has many benefits, from improving soil fertility to being a safe cleaning alternative.

With this program, we hope that the community will be more aware of the importance of waste management and the use of environmentally friendly products in order to create a cleaner and healthier environment, and reduce the negative impact of household waste. Ecoenzyme is not just a liquid, but also a symbol of change towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
