Rofik Wahyu Hidayat, a student from the Industrial Chemical Engineering Study Program at the Vocational School of Diponegoro University, successfully won third place in the Diploma Program category at the Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres 2024) event. The final round will be held in person at Gorontalo State University from July 24th to 28th, 2024. Pilmapres is a student competition organized by the Indonesian Talent Development Center, the National Achievement Center, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, and is held annually. The goal is to recognize the best students who are ready to be agents of change to build a better Indonesia. In this final, 31 students were selected from the 28 participating universities.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si, said he was very grateful for Rofik Wahyu Hidayat’s achievement. This is because, beside bringing honor to Undip, it will also serve as an example and inspiration for other students to support Undip’s progress and benefit the nation and country. The event was closed by Tatang Muttaqin, S.Sos., M. Ed., Ph.D., Expert Staff for Talent Management at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. On that occasion, Tatang Muttaqin stated that this event was an extraordinary achievement for the participants who made it to the 2024 Pilmapres. They are among the best and brightest students in Indonesia. You are all talents who will become winners in your fields. “Not just social, academic, and portfolio skills, but every aspect,” he explained.
According to Tatang, talent development is one way to enhance activities on campus. So that students can be trained in their field. Producing hard and soft skills that have a positive impact on society at large. Pilmapres participants are exemplary students who can be emulated by other students. So his work has a positive impact on others. This competition gives participants the ability to be dedicated. It also serves as a platform to encourage achievement and excellence,” he explained.
Rofik Wahyu Hidayat, a 6th-semester student, also shared his impressions and messages from the selection process until he successfully brought home the championship. According to him, he is proud and happy to be able to represent Undip, especially the vocational school, in the Diploma category at the 2024 Pilmapres in Gorontalo; it was certainly not easy to reach this position. But with hard work and strong belief, especially belief in oneself, that will lead us to success. His message to his friends at Vocational School and all Undip students is to keep striving until your dreams come true one by one. We may never know which dream God will fulfilll first, but at least we can plan which dream we will pursue first. Best of luck to everyone for a strong vocational education that strengthens Indonesia.
