One of the 2001 UNDIP D3 Chemical Engineering alumni, Paustinus Gunarto, S.T. has been successful as an entrepreneur and owner of PT. Sabatani Global Solusindo (SGS) is a large company operating in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) sector with hundreds of employees. His work began after completing his final assignment guidance which at that time was supervised by lecturer Mohamad Endy Julianto S.T., M.T. Until graduating, Gugun, as he is known, worked in industry for 10 years. His strong commitment to creating job opportunities to be more useful for many people encouraged him to establish his own company with his younger brother, after he felt he had sufficient experience.

As the company develops, to obtain superior and competent human resources who are ready to work, the Owner of PT. Sabatani Global Solusindo in collaboration with the Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology Study Program (TRKI) Undip Vocational School held a Recruitment Campus for selection of the position “Design & Calculation Process Equipment”. This activity is to absorb graduates with excellent competencies needed by companies operating in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) fields. Chair of the TRKI Undip Vocational School Study Program, Mohamad Endy Julianto ST MT, said that this collaboration cannot be separated from the business development of PT Sabatani Global Solusindo. This development requires many prospective workers or graduates who are competent or skilled in their fields. “Undip Vocational TRKI graduates are one of the universities chosen by PT Sabatani Global Solusindo to obtain competent personnel. Our graduates happen to suit what PT needs. “SGS is one of the largest companies in the EPC sector in Indonesia,” said Endy, his nickname when met at the Undip Vocational Campus.

This suitability is based on the education system at TRKI which has implemented the “Dual System”, thereby producing work-ready graduates with the competencies they possess. Endy explained that the collaboration with PT Sabatani Global Solusindo has now entered the stage of sending CVs and other files online. The planned selection includes stages in the form of: IQ test, DISC, academic test and those who pass will continue with interviews with Users and finally HRD at the end of October 2023 at the Undip Vocational Campus. Coincidentally, on the same date an MoU will also be signed between the TRKI Study Program and PT Sabatani Global Solusindo. According to Endy, who is the Ministry of Education and Research and Technology’s KI & Industrial Patent Reviever Team, this collaboration cannot be separated from the Undip Vocational School continuing to create graduates who are ready to work. To prepare for this, students are also given education on campus by lecturers and from teaching practitioners (industry lecturers), as well as “design specifications” for developing IPR-certified innovative products. Apart from that, students also carry out internships in companies and industries for a minimum of 6 months to 1.5 years.”So when students graduate, they are ready to enter the world of work and entrepreneurship. This is what makes many companies interested in looking for vocational graduates as workers or experts in developing their companies, one of which is PT. Sabatani Global Solusindo,” said Endy.Endy also said that other programs to support the creation of vocational graduates who are ready to work include competency certification for students, implementing scholarship programs, industry-based curriculum adjustments, retooling, retraining, lecturer-teacher competency, teaching practitioner programs and the Teaching Industry program. namely a research, development and innovation activity with a collaborative business model between universities and industry. The aim is to improve learning and applied research. For Endy, this activity is very important, because currently society is facing global competition as well as the challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0. So it is necessary to encourage links and matches between vocational education and the industrial world. Apart from PT. Sabatani Global Solusindo, TRKI Vocational Undip also collaborates with PT. Unilever Oleochemical Indonesia, PT. Nusantara Building Industries (NBI), PT. Chandra Asri Petrochemical, PT. BGR, PT. SENA and state-owned companies such as Pertamina, PLN, MIGAS Cepu.

Dean of Undip Vocational School Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono M.Sc. fully supports the steps taken by study programs within the Vocational School environment.“Creativity, innovation and network development must continue because change is happening so quickly. “We certainly hope that Undip Vocational School graduates, apart from being competent, must also be quickly absorbed into industry and the business world so that their competencies and skills can develop and be of benefit to society,” said Prof. Budiyono.
