Semarang–Diponegoro University Vocational college through the Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology Study Program (TRKI) held a community service activity in the Boja sub-district, Kendal Regency, on Tuesday (25/10/2022). This activity is a tetrahelix collaboration between the UNDIP Vocational School, SMKN 3 Kendal, the Regional Government through the Centre for Metal and Wood Industry (BLIK) Disperindagkop Central Java. This activity focuses on improving production equipment at Bozza SMEs which produce herbal processed products. So that with the help of essential herbal production equipment with a pressure system, it can increase the production capacity and quality of SMEs products.

More specifically, this excellent community service activities are carried out with 2 partners, namely instant ginger SMEs “Bozza” and SMK Negeri 3 Kendal. This UMKM instant ginger production is still conventional, starting from the production process to packaging”. The production process of extract drinks is still constrained by pasteurization and sterilization by conventional boiling methods, therefore there is no temperature control that can make the quality and hygiene product. This UMKM instant ginger business threatens with SMK Negeri 3 Kendal which is planned to be developed through appropriate technology in the form of restaurant equipment with a subcritical hydrothermal concept in order to increase the productivity of UMKM instant drinks with high quality. The partners still do not know the application of appropriate technology and do not understand about the development of packaging design as product branding to increase consumer interest. Therefore, a community service program is needed which includes training and assistance in the use of pressure cookers for instant ginger and training in designing packaging/labeling.

Dr. Eng. Vita Paramita as the head of the service said “the target of this activity is gradually in the form of research in national journals with ISSN and print mass media. Based on what has been done, participants are able to make”.
