Student Orientation, or in Indonesian we call it PKKMB (Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus Bagi Mahasiswa Baru), is important to be held. Through the orientation, all fresher students were given preparation to go through transition period from high school life to college life, which is expected to be more independent and mature, so all of them are able to adapt faster. There were several sharing sessions in this orientation, including internal and external materials. Internal campus knowledge such as General Information of University, Campus Life Introduction, Learning Method, General campus Normalities and Regulation, and of course Student Organization and Society Introduction. While, for example, the external materials are Revolution Industry 4.0, Environmental Awareness, and Disaster Preparedness.
Student Orientation (PKKMB) of Industrial Chemical Engineering was held on 16th August 2022 by the theme “Kembangkan Prestasi, Ciptakan Karya, Bersinergi Bersama”. The theme was chosen as a hope of Human Resource Development Department, as a project committee, to be able to create and prepare any leader nominee who have a lot of achievement, good leadership, and a sense of responbility. Student orientation was participated by all of fresher student, behalf of committee, and a lot of lecturer and educator. At 7.00, the event was started. As usual, all of participant were gathered to sing national song—Indonesia Raya—followed by official university song—Mars Undip and Mars TRKI. Afterwards, there were several knowledge presentations which is delivered by certain lecturer. For example, internal knowledges of campus were delivered by a following presenter, General Information of Campus were delivered by Mohamad Endy Julianto, S.T., M.T., Learning Method by Rizka Amalia, S.T., M.T., Fahmi Arifan, S.T., M. Eng., and Sri Pudjawati, S.H., Academic Regulation knowledge was presented by Dr. Eng., Vita Paramita, S.T., M.M., M. Eng., and Ir. R.T.D. Wisnu Broto, S.T., M.T., General Campus Normalities and Regulation was delivered by Anggun Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D. and Heny Kusumayanti, S.T., M.T., and Knowledge of Student Organization was explained by Student Association of Industrial Chemical Engineering. While the external knowledge such as Revolution Industry Knowledge was explained by Hermawan Dwi Ariyanto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. and then Ir. Edy Supriyo, M.T. presented about Environmental Awareness and Disaster Preparedness. After presentation session of certain topic was done, the PKKMB event was finished. But the series of fresher student welcoming event was not just PKKMB. There was Pendikar (Pendidikan Karakter) too in the next day.
Pendikar (Pendidikan Karakter) of Industrial Chemical Engineering was held on 18th – 20th August 2022. Before the event was started, all of fresher student are required to fill self-confident survey. In the series of Pendikar’s event, there was presentation session about any knowledge, such as Caracter Building, Self and Organizational Branding, Self-Potential, Generation Recognizing, Emotional Control, Honesty and Impartiality, and Social Concern. All of material-given are important to give personal debriefing. Furthermore, there were also games and sharing session which is expected to build fundamental bonding between fresher student. All of them were divided into a lot of teams, each team consist of few of them. Then. They had sharing session with their teams ‘mate and their mentor. The aim of this team’s distribution was to make them get closer to each other. Afterwards, fresher student was required to compile Pendikar Activity Report for each day, so they had to make three event report. They also required to compile Declaration of Excellence (DoE) after three days of Pendikar was done. In the last day of Pendikar, there was Outdoor Games as this event closing.
From all of series of PKKMB and Pendikar Event that was done, fresher students of Industrial Chemical Engineering are supposed to able to go through the transition period of high school life to college life. Moreover, they are expected to be able to carry out Tri Dharma Universitas Diponegoro, which in the future, they can be alumnus who have well-science comprehension, valuable manner and attitude, patriotism, and competitive soul. Hence, a college student is not only judged by their academic achievement, but also by their attitude and manner. Thus, improper use of science can be minimalized.
