Currently, various recruitments for large companies and modern industries have been carried out based on social media profiling. Social media screening is now one of the stages of employee recruitment that is carried out, because social media can be used to build a person’s image. This is also experienced by Shabrina, a graduate of the Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology Study Program (TRKI) Vocational School, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Shabrina expressed her gratitude for getting the opportunity to work in the Nickel Mining industry in Southeast Sulawesi through LinkedIn and social media on Google. One of the users of the Nickel Mining company had visited her LinkedIn and then Shabrina sent a connection.
The user, who is the Section Head of HRGA, sent me a LinkedIn Direct Message first, said Shabrina. Through this Direct Message, I sent back a CV and explained a little about the skills and competency certificates that I have. Shabrina said that all of this is inseparable from the important role of the Undip Vocational TRKI Study Program which has provided training and competency certificates as a companion to the graduation certificate. Head of TRKI Study Program, Mohamad Endy Julianto, said that the training and competency certification for students during college, including: ISO 9001: 2016, ISO 14001: 2018, ISO 45001: 2018, SMK3 and Biodiesel Plant Engineering training and Career Preparation Training. While the competency certification is in the form of Liquid Chemical Production Process Supervisor.
Shabrina added that to improve skills and increase insight, various trainings were also attended, such as: HACCP, VACCP, TACCP Based on FSSC 22000 5.1 Version. Full Stack Data Analysis training to gain SQL, Python, Tableau, Spreadsheet and data analysis skills. Likewise, Ms. Excel training is deepened from basic to advanced. Likewise, publications in journals have also been provided with a Supervisor entitled “Optimization of Sunflower Essential Oil Extraction (Helianthus Annus) Using Soxhletation Method with Factorial Design Experiment. Even periodically always evaluating CVs and updating LinkedIn to get opportunities, said Shabrina.
Finally, only 2 days of interview opportunities with HR and Users were carried out in an integrated manner at that time. Shabrina revealed that she was given a challenge task by the user with a deadline of several hours which was asked to do 2 things. However, Shabrina took the initiative to add 1 more thing outside of what the user asked for, explained Shabrina. After a few days, the recruitment process took place quickly until the signing of the Offering Letter and the scheduling of the medical checkup had been successfully passed. Information updates to send further files such as NPWP, BPJS Kesehatan, and others have also been completed. For me, everyone has their own time. I learned a lot not to give up easily and dare to take risks, concluded Shabrina.
