The Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology (TRKI) study program at the Vocational School of Diponegoro University (UNDIP) continues to innovate by introducing innovative learning methods. This effort is aimed at equipping its graduates to be ready to adapt and respond to the dynamics of the modern world of work, which is increasingly integrated with digitalization. TRKI graduates are required to have excellent mental and physical resilience to meet the challenges of the current and future industries.
The Head of the TRKI Study Program, Mohamad Endy Julianto, emphasized the importance of universities in creating learning innovations that meet the needs of the contemporary industry. To that end, TRKI has implemented a modified vocational education revitalization system. This program includes an integrated dual system with industry, a teaching factory based on Project-Based Learning (PJBL), retraining (retooling), the involvement of industry practitioners, and collaboration with Competency Certification Bodies (LSP).
The results are very real—a number of multinational companies are now actively recruiting directly on campus. One graduate who caught attention was Desmilia Sefti, who received offers from three major companies within a month: PT Eternal Nickel Industry, PT Rekayasa Engineering, and BPS Pertamina Hulu Energi. Desmilia, a graduate of TRKI SV UNDIP, achieved this success thanks to her diverse experience in the industrial sector. His career began during his university years thru various internship programs that honed his skills in process engineering and industrial management. In his seventh semester, he completed a six-month internship at PT Citra Resins Industries as a Process Engineer, which enriched his understanding of chemical industry operations and efforts to improve process efficiency and safety. He then continued his practical field experience at PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan as a Field Process Engineer, broadening his horizons in direct field management. Not only that, Desmilia also participated in the MAGENTA FHCI BUMN program at PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy, which deepened her knowledge in the field of renewable energy, particularly in geothermal energy management systems.
With that foundation, Desmilia honed her skills in Process & Industrial Management, particularly in process modeling using software like Aspen HYSYS and Pipesim. This expertise enables him to design and analyze processes with precision, while also ensuring workplace safety is maintained.
Not only focused on practice, Desmilia also actively participated in various training programs and obtained certifications, thanks to the support of the TRKI Study Program. The training she attended included P&ID for the oil and gas industry, hydraulic flowline calculations, and ISO standard training (ISO 45001:2018, ISO 22000:2018, and ISO 9001:2015). She also deepened her knowledge of occupational safety thru training such as HAZOP, HIRAC, and JSA. In 2023, Desmilia successfully obtained a certificate from the Ministry of Manpower as a Certified Supervisor of Occupational Safety and Health Norms Development. Not only that, she also earned a BNSP certification as a Certified Production Supervisor in the Production Process of Liquid Chemicals thru the TRKI TUK and the UNDIP Vocational LSP. With her background of experience and certifications, Desmilia demonstrates a strong commitment to continue contributing to the development of the national energy industry, while also serving as an inspiring example for the younger generation.
