Industrial visits are one of the courses that must be fulfilled by students in several study programs, one of which is a study program in the science and technology family of Undip Vocational School, S.Tr. Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology or abbreviated as TRKI this year carried out visits to several well-known chemical companies in Gresik, East Java and Bali. On February 19-24, 2024 yesterday, this industrial visit was attended by 75 students of the 2021 batch, where the main visits to the chemical industry included PT Petrokimia Gresik, PT Petro Oxo Nusantara, PT Smelting, PT Petronika, and PT Hatten.

This activity is an activity that combines observation, visits and student tours to places, agencies, or institutions related to the disciplines or fields that students pursue in college. The object of student industrial visits can be places, agencies or institutions related to entrepreneurship, science, science and technology, or education. In accordance with the chemistry group, students choose to go to an industry that is quite familiar to chemical engineering students. This visit will provide experience for students to see firsthand where they will make a living in the future.

The lecturers, Dr. Ir. Fahmi Arifan, ST, M.Eng, IPM. and Ir. RTD Wisnu Broto, M.T. expressed their support and hopes for students to be able to absorb and ask things that can support knowledge related to chemical engineering so that students can know the real situation in the industry. This activity was also welcomed by all parties of the company, from various companies admitted that they were happy to receive visits made by S.Tr. Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology this year. Students are also happy to be able to see various field conditions, “Earlier at the company, we were invited to a plant tour, could enter the laboratory, and tour the factory to see the production process. I hope other themes can also see and actively ask questions to know what a process in the factory is like,” said Rofik Wahyu Hidayat as the chairman of the 2024 Industrial Visit committee. Of course, in addition to being a learning material for students, it is hoped that this program can become a bridge between the university and the company to collaborate in the future. (Rofik)
