The Independent Student Exchange Program (PMM) is an exchange program for students from various regions in Indonesia to participate in registration and selection at other campuses in Indonesia. PMM allows students to explore, learn about the cultural diversity of the archipelago, make friends with students from other regions, and have the opportunity to study at other campuses in Indonesia. Currently PMM Batch 4 is being implemented. One of the TRKI students successfully passed the registration and selection.
Fitesa Nur Firdasti is a 2022 Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology student, accepted at Syiah Kuala University, Aceh, Fitesa has departed since January 2024. PMM allows Fitesa to take part in learning from the Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering Study Programs. Apart from academic study, through PMM Fitesa gets the Nusantara Module. The Nusantara module is a course related to cultural exploration and Human Resources in Aceh. Until now, he has studied at the Baiturrahman Mosque, Sacred Heart Church, Vihara Dharma Bakti, and Sabang City.
Having stayed overnight in Sabang and visited 0 km Indonesia, Fitesa admitted that he had gained a lot of experience and new knowledge. “What I remember most is that the stigma about “the Acehnese people being Islamic” is actually wrong. The people of Aceh really respect other religions. Apart from that, the caning law also only applies to Muslims. “But perpetrators of “adultery” who are non-Muslims usually choose the law of caning over other laws because they feel that the law of flogging is lighter,” explained Fitesa.
