My name is Elsya Fitri Cahyani, I am a student at Diponegoro University majoring in Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology. At the beginning of college, I still felt blind to the opportunities that existed, and thought that college is only dedicated to the campus, but after 2 years of college, with a very busy schedule, I was very busy with practicum and reports. I want to try new things and explore the cultural diversity of the archipelago, I started to follow the socialization about Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) and tried to find activities in the Merdeka Campus program.
I just realized that opportunities are not only for people who have money, with the MBKM program held by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), I began to register for the Merdeka Student Exchange program because this program really helps students, namely can add to the learning experience outside the campus, feel how to conduct lectures that are not on the campus of origin, to explore the diversity of the archipelago, learn culture directly in place and most importantly learn tolerance from various ethnicities, cultures, races and religions.
The campus that accepted me was the Bali State Polytechnic which is one of the best polytechnics in Bali which has many majors and has a good vision and mission, Bali is a province rich in culture as well as in PNB itself on Thursday it is mandatory to wear Balinese traditional clothes and that made me choose PNB as the destination campus, then I chose the Utilities Engineering Technology major, because I was interested in the field of clean water and wastewater treatment systems and of course it was quite related to the major I took at my home campus.
The Merdeka Student Exchange is held for one semester. The activities are the same as students in general, namely Monday to Friday lectures as usual, but on Saturday and Sunday there are Nusantara Module activities which include Diversity, Inspiration, Reflection, and Social Contribution. The Nusantara Module aims for PMM program students to actively participate in maintaining and increasing diversity tolerance in society for their own hopes that students can increase their understanding of brotherhood among religious adherents. The Nusantara Module activity itself involves a lot of visits to historical places, and every month you have to submit monthly reports.
Previously, I registered for this program and placed the Bali State Polytechnic as the first choice, there were 1,124 students who chose PNB. However, only 75 students were accepted. I am very grateful to be selected and to be able to take part in this program, even on campus from home it really supports students to study off campus, this program can be a stepping stone to success, the thing that underlies me to join this program is being able to convert up to 20 credits, and The program is financed by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
